Renault Clio 2025 – If in 2024 the main protagonist was the Renault 5, waiting for a more crossover version called “4” for next fall, 2025 could be the year of the Clio. The sixth generation of the Renault Clio is upon us, and luckily for fans of the small French car, its future is not in jeopardy.
As we said in the past months, the arrival of the new Renault 5 does not mean goodbye to the Clio, which still has something to say. The Renault brand is investing massively in its small and affordable models with the aim of being fully electrified by 2035. And the Clio is also in this program.
Renault Clio 2025
Although the sixth version of the model will rather be a complete facelift of the current model and will continue to be based on combustion versions with hybrid technology (and without diesel), the arrival of a fully electric version is also expected.
Renault Clio Review 2024, Price & Specs
The new Renault Clio should arrive in the middle of next year, and then go on sale in 2026. However, the introduction of a fully electric version will not be at the top of the French company’s priorities.
British daily Autocar has offered some interesting hints about how Renault intends to make the Clio the fifth electric model in the new family, following the Mégane, 5, 4 and the new or near Twingo.
On the other hand, the new generation of Renault Clio will continue to use the existing CMF-B platform for versions with an internal combustion engine. Petrol will continue to play a major role, but mainly because the dCi diesel engines will eventually disappear from the range.
E-Tech full hybrid (HEV), mild-hybrid (MHEV) and even plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology, which inherits the system from the Captur, should occupy half of the future Clio range, especially in the early stages. LPG versions with the ECO label will remain a valuable addition.
Renault Clio Driving, Engines & Performance
The future Renault Clio should also be 100% electric, but will be based on a version of the new AmpR Small platform, which underpins the newly introduced Renault 5.
In fact, this architecture will be available in three dimensions: the smallest for the future rebirth of the electric Twingo; interval for the new Renault 5 and 4; larger for the top Clio. Since this architecture shares about 60% of components with the CMF-B, transferring the body from one to the other will be a breeze.
However, significant aesthetic changes are expected between the two versions, both of which are in line with the features we’ve seen recently on the Scénic, Mégane, Austral, etc. It’s transformed and leaves a more retro side for the small electrics in Renault’s line-up.
The upcoming electric Renault Clio will bridge the gap between the roughly 20 mm smaller Renault 5 and 4 and the Mégane, which is already a significant segment higher. The same will be true of prices: if the “5” crosses the 25,000 euro mark, the price of the future Renault Clio will be around 30,000 euro.
Renault Clio 2023: Lo Que Sabemos Del Nuevo Utilitario
It was said from the start that the new Renault 5 was not intended to replace the Clio, which has such a strong identity that its future cannot (or should not) be compromised. Especially in light of the commercial success of the fifth generation. “Clio is a brand in itself.

Renault’s head of engineering, Gilles Le Borgne, emphasized to Autocar the importance and practicality of multi-energy racing systems, especially when it is available and economically possible. And Renault could start with a new small electric car base with the Clio.
On Test: Renault Clio E Tech Hybrid
It was born in 2014. When print media, radio and television joined the world of social media, it opened up a space for new and uninterrupted communication. Thus began the idea of creating another project that will capture the attention of readers and their curiosity.
The new R5 E-Tech Electric may be the coolest member of the Renault range, but it is not intended to replace the similar Clio. Instead, reports suggest a new sixth-generation Clio is in development, slated for early 2026. This next-generation Clio will offer both hybrid and all-electric powertrains in line with Renault’s revised electrification plans.
The current fifth Clio debuted in 2019 and received a facelift in 2023. Despite the recent facelift, its successor is expected to arrive around 2026, maintaining Renault’s tradition of a seven-year life cycle for previous generations.
In terms of market position, the new Clio could fill the gap between the R5 and Megane in Renault’s offering for young families looking for an electric hatchback. With the hybrid variant, it aims to remain relevant even during the global slowdown of electric cars until the world fully adopts zero-emissions guidelines.
Externally, the new Clio will carry Renault’s latest design philosophy, led by new design director Gilles Vidal. This approach has been demonstrated in models such as the Scenic E-Tech crossover and the Rafale flagship coupe-SUV. The idea is to give it a contemporary aesthetic to differentiate it from the retro-inspired R5 and R4, as well as the nostalgic Twingo.
Mitsubishi Ecolt Unofficially Ditches Clio Rebadge, Goes After Renault 5 Ev Glory
Our speculative rendering below reflects this, incorporating elements of the Scenic’s design into a compact niche while retaining its familiar size and proportions.
The current Clio measures 4,053 mm (159.6 in) in length, slightly exceeding the electric-only R5’s 3,920 mm (154.3 in). While this distinction may not categorize them into separate segments, it does give them some direction in the subcompact hatchback landscape. This strategic position comes at a time when other manufacturers, such as Ford, are exiting this segment.
The next generation Clio will likely sit on an updated version of the current CMF-B architecture. The Ampr Small Platform (CMF-BEV) on which the R5 is fully electric shares 60 percent of its components with the CMF-B, meaning a crossover between the two is possible. In this context, Autocar has announced that the hybrid and fully electric versions of the Clio will have an identical design.
It’s safe to assume that Renault will continue to develop the hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains seen in the current E-Tech-badged Clio and Captur. By 2026, electricity companies can offer longer ranges with zero emissions while improving their fuel efficiency.
Renault Clio: Nel 2026 è Attesa La Sesta Generazione Della Vettura
The sixth-generation Clio will face tough competition from the Peugeot 208 and Opel Corsa brands, which offer EV and hybrid versions under the Stellantis umbrella. In contrast, the upcoming VW ID.2 is expected to feature electric power only. Notably, the Clio will remain the only Renault ICE hatch, setting it apart from the upcoming Twingo, R5 and Megane, all of which are available exclusively in zero-emissions configurations.
We look forward to hearing more about the 2026 Renault Clio as it nears its launch. If the rumors are true, we can expect to see camouflaged prototypes for the new generation next year. is to come
Despite the crossover craze, small cars are still very much alive in Europe and there are plenty of superminis to choose from. Yes, the list will be shortened in 2023 with the shock demise of the Ford Fiesta, but there will still be plenty of subcompact hatchbacks to buy, including the Renault Clio. A mid-cycle facelift is in the works for the B-segment model and should be released next summer. This is what we think it will look like.
Since it’s only a facelift for the next generation, the Clio won’t be drastically different. We expect lighter but wider headlights with standard LEDs and a slightly sportier front fascia. Our speculative digital work shows the upper line of the RS, as unfortunately the RS temperature does not return. In fact, the French will ditch the Renaultsport badge altogether with the last Megane RS in 2023.
Renault Clio 6 2026
The biggest piece of the puzzle about the 2023 Clio is whether the company with the diamond logo wants to give it a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The mechanically linked Captur is offered with a PHEV setup, but the crossover is significantly longer. It remains to be seen if there are any packaging restrictions preventing Renault from giving its small side a loading port.
Some car manufacturers have criticized the upcoming Euro 7 regulations, saying it could kill many small cars. Upgrading A and B segment vehicles to meet stricter regulations would make these models very expensive. The writing is already on the wall for ICE-powered vehicles, as Renault has committed to going all-electric in Europe by the end of the decade.
The facelifted Clio will also form the basis for the facelifted Mitsubishi Colt coming to the Old Continent to mirror the relationship between the Capture and the ASX. Next in line Renault will introduce the sixth generation Clio in 2026 and
